Opis:	9th July, 2010 Supporters and enthusiasts who have been active in the restoration of the York Theatre since 1981 gathered yesterday at the Vancouver East Cultural Centre in a public open house. They are Tom Durrie, Save the York Theatre Society; Heather Redfern, Executive Director of the Vancouver East Cultural Centre; architect David Galpin of Downs/Archambault & Partners: Anthony R. Norfolk, a Vanvouver residence; and many participants who came to sign letters supporting the project. The beautiful Vancouver summer added on to the already boiling elation of this exciting meeting. According to Tom Durrie, "City Council unanimously passed a motion to allow a density bonus equal to 100% of the cost of the restoration and renovation of the York Theatre." This means we are absolutely certain that we will have a new York Theatre on the Commercial Drive in about 2 years time. Congratulation to all, especially to those whose hard work have resulted in this pay-off. We look forward to a great future of the community on the Drive.
